Tekijänoikeus-, yksityisyys- ja sananvapauskysymyksiin sekä tietoyhteiskunnan kehittämiseen keskittyvä Piraattipuolue jättää maanantaina 1. kesäkuuta oikeusministeriölle hakemuksen puoluerekisteriin pääsyä varten. Piraattipuolue on kerännyt tarvittavat 5 000 kannattajakorttia, joten puolue saa rekisteröidyn puolueen aseman heti, kun oikeusministeriö on käsitellyt hakemuksen. Rekisteröitynä puolueena Piraattipuolue voi asettaa ehdokkaita tulevissa vaaleissa.
