125

It was predicted a few years ago, that 120 dollars per barrel would mean global recession. Now the record is over 125.

120

Relentless. Here’s the reason, in crystal clear Norwegian: Verdens forsyning av r쎥olje og kondensat var 0,265 Mb/d lavere for hele 2007 relativt 2006. For 2006 viser dataene at forsyningen var 0,268 Mb/d lavere enn i 2005. Siden 2005 er alts쎥 den globale forsyningen av r쎥olje og kondensat redusert med 0,53 Mb/d.

Wikipedian mukaan kuuluisan lauseen “My grandfather rode a camel, my father rode a camel, I drive a Mercedes, my son drives a Land Rover, his son will drive a Land Rover, but his son will ride a camel” esitti sheikki Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Yhdistyneiden arabiemiirikuntien pitk쎤aikainen p쎤쎤ministeri, kuvatakseen maansa 쎶ljyvarojen riitt쎤vyytt쎤. Amerikkalainen elämäntapa

… ei ole neuvoteltavissa: Amerikkalainen kuoronjohtaja on ottanut j쎤re쎤t keinot k쎤ytt쎶쎶n, jotta bensiinin hinta saataisiin laskuun. Washingtonilainen Rocky Twyman saapui viime viikonloppuna San Franciscoon, miss쎤 h쎤n j쎤rjesti rukoustilaisuuden huoltoasemalla. Rukoustilaisuudessa Twyman kehotti kirkkov쎤ke쎤 pyyt쎤m쎤쎤n Jumalan v쎤liintuloa siihen, miss쎤 poliitikot ovat ep쎤onnistuneet. Amerikkalaisittain kallis bensiini, l쎤hes dollari (60 eurosentti쎤) litralta, kismitt쎤쎤 San Franciscon lahden alueella. Eik쎤 […]

115

Just amazing. 115. And the food riots around the world… I hope we soon adopt what the former foreign minister Erkki Tuomioja suggested; gasoline rationing. This is the year when the s–t hits the fan. Amazing. Blogged with the Flock Browser Tags: peakoil

The pixels are hardly dry on the 105, when we have 110. This is turning out to be a very bumpy year.

Now that oil is again on a record high of 106 dollars per barrel, and Russia is replacing Saudi Arabia as the biggest oil producer, and the all time peak of crude oil production is still May 2005, it is good to revisit the good old Olduvai theory:

Vertailun vuoksi

Pisti silmiin sattumoisin vinke쎤 vertailu, kun eilen surffailin. Vuonna 2004 Suomi kulutti arviolta 220 000 barrelia 쎶ljy쎤 p쎤iv쎤ss쎤. Samana vuonna Yhdysvaltain armeija kulutti 395 000 barrelia 쎶ljy쎤 p쎤iv쎤ss쎤. Melkein kaksinkertaisen m쎤쎤r쎤n.

So, the soon-to-be-decisive 2008 is off with a quick start: oil trades for over 100 dollars for the first time in history.

And now Russia…

… is abandoning the dollar in oil sales. “Resource nationalism” on the rise, free trade on the fall.
