OilDrumilla on jonkin aikaa jatkunut keskustelu Saudi-Arabian suurimman öljykentän, Ghawarin, tilanteesta, 1, 2, ja 3. Tautalla väijyy kalteva pinta: jos Ghawarin öljyntuotanto lähtee laskuun, koko Saudi-Arabian öljyntuotanto laskee, ja jos Saudi-Arabian öljyntuotanto laskee, koko maailman öljyntuotanto laskee. Ghawar kattaa 60-65% Saudi-Arabian koko tuotannosta.
