Finally installed it. Now, is there any possible way to purchase a new machine in the future without having to simultaneously purchase Windows Vista?
My lord. They truely are clever calculative bastards! It seems that companies that have noticed that there is a market for linux laptops actually purchase the laptops with windows license, and then just remove windows, and replace it with a free linux distro!

Yes it is! Probably there are small companies selling Linux-computers near where you live, and in any case, Dell, one of the big players, started offering Ubuntu-Linux on desktops and laptops just recently:
